Matcha Latte

Matcha Latte
Recipe makes 1 serving

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp hot water 176˚ F or 80˚ C
  • ¾ cup milk or plant-based alternative
  • 2 tsp sugar, syrup, honey or sweet preference
  • 1 ½ tsp Matcha powder
  • Matcha set or small whisk
We highly recommend getting a bamboo whisk called a chasen
  • Milk Frother
  • Fine mesh strainer (optional)

Instructions:

1. (optional) Sift the Match powder into a small bowl or cup. This will minimize any lumps and ensure a smooth cream latte. If made in a bowl transfer to your favorite cup.

2. Add the hot water to the bowl. Using your whisk draw the letter W as you whisk and not your usual circular motion. Ensure you blend the Matcha until all the powder is incorporated and it has a loose foam on the top. Stir in sweetness alternative.

3. Steam or heat your milk or plant-based alternative. Once warm, froth. Traditional milk froths quicker than plant-based alternatives. Approximately 30 seconds of frothing for milk vs 50 seconds for plant-based alternatives. Soy and coconut milk give the best froth if you are looking for that satisfying thick foam to top your latte.

4. Pour your milk or plant-based alternative into the Matcha, stir to combine. Top with the smooth and creamy froth. (optional) sprinkle a little Matcha powder on top to finish. Serve and enjoy!
